Maria's family has tended the same olive grove near Kalamata for four generations. When we settled in Melbourne, we couldn't find olives that tasted like home β so we started bringing them ourselves and curing them the way her yiayia taught her.
What began with one folding table at Laverton Market is now a weekend ritual for hundreds of families. Stavros mans the stall, Maria makes the dips, and the recipes haven't changed in eighty years.
